Equal opportunity

As the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, we, like more than 80 other institutes, belong to the Max Planck Society. The Max Planck Society and its research institutions support employees irrespective of gender, nationality, religion, disability, age, cultural origin and sexual identity. The diversity of individual talent, creativity and passion is the basis for top-class research, which is not only done at the MPI for Dynamics and Self-Organization.

In order to make it easier to reconcile family and career, especially for young scientists and academics, there are various programmes to support them in the family and career start-up phase. Some programs are open only to women scientists, others are open to everyone to the same extent.

The Max Planck Society promotes a balanced employment of women and men and the sustainable implementation of family-oriented personnel policies. In 2015, it was awarded the certificate for the fourth time for this purpose. The quality seal of the non-profit Hertie Foundation recognizes family-oriented employers for a sustainable family-friendly personnel policy.

What we offer:

  • Reconciling work and family life (work/life balance)
So that women and men with family responsibilities are not disadvantaged.
  • Contact person for pregnant women
Soon-to-be moms enjoy the special protection of the law. Among other things, the supervisor must carry out a risk assessment to check whether protective measures must be taken at your workplace. IMPORTANT: The protection against dismissal and the employer's special obligation to comply with maternity protection regulations only begin with notification. So inform your supervisor or one of us as soon as you know that you are pregnant.
  • Family service (childcare and care of relatives)
The Max Planck Society cooperates with the family service "pme Familienservice" to support its employees in their search for childcare solutions for children and family members in need of care and to co-finance additional childcare costs for further education.
  • Trusted person
In the case of sexual harassment and bullying at the workplace, the Equal Opportunities Officer is available locally.
  • Equal opportunities, career development for women, increasing the proportion of women in under-representation, mentoring, Minerva-FemmeNet
Increasing the quota of female scientists and female managers, implementation/initiation of measures to promote equal opportunities.
  • Parent-child rooms
The institute has a playroom/nursing room and a "mobile" playroom, which is available to the staff.
  • Exchange and planned cooperation with the entire Göttingen Campus (University of Göttingen, DLR, Acadeny of science and MPIs)
