For the third time the Bernstein Award, with 1.25 million Euro one of the most attractive junior research prizes worldwide, goes to a former scientist of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN) in Göttingen. In 2006 the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) elected Dr. Matthias Bethge as the first Bernstein Award winner, followed in 2010 by Dr. Udo Ernst. Raul-Martin Memmesheimer intends to return to Göttingen and to establish a research group at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and the Bernstein Center for Computational Science.
