Nominations sought for the Position of Director

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS) invites nominations for the position of Director of an Experimental Department. The MPI-DS is a basic research institute with approximately 250 scientists. Research at the MPI-DS is devoted to the study of self-organization in nature (see www.ds.mpg.de) and has a tradition of collaborative research within the institute and across the Campus Göttingen (see goettingen-campus.de).

Nominees should work in experimental physics as broadly applied to the field of dynamics and self-organization of active matter. The successful candidate will have established a record of original and creative research at the highest international level and can inspire and lead a substantial group of scientists. The nominee’s research should preferably complement the collaborative research within the institute and the Campus Göttingen, but may also introduce new research directions.

Written nominations, which will be treated strictly confidentially, should be addressed to gd@ds.mpg.de. They must include a short description of the nominee‘s background and most significant scientific accomplishments. Self-nominations will not be considered. The call for nominations will remain active until the position is filled.
