"The power of MATSim when it comes to transport simulation applied to Campinas-Brazil. What would happen if all the transport were replaced by SAVs (Shared Automated Vehicles)?"
MATSim is a powerful tool when it comes to large-scale agent-based transport simulation. The framework consists of modules that can be arranged to fit multiple interests by combining several of them or just using one-by-one. These modules can also be replaced by personalized ones to test more specific situations. It also provides methods for analyzing the generated output.
Campinas is a big city in Brazil, about 1 million inhabitants, and like most of big cities has some traffic issues. What would happen if somehow all the transport were made by SAVs? Would be possible to reduce the actual vehicle fleet? How does it affect the urban space?
The work presented on this talk is about showing how far I went on this project and to demonstrate what couldn't be achieved yet with some pre-existent examples.
