Mechanics and dynamics of biological adhesion
Within the biophysics-group of the LFPB department of Prof. Bodenschatz, where I am principal investigator and group leader, we focus on mechanics, dynamics and pattern formation of cell adhesion and motility as well as chemotaxis. Investigations are focused on the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum.
Methods used include both optical (CLSM/TIRFM) and non-optical approaches
(atomic force microscope/impedance spectroscopy). Within a further project funded by the DFG, we also study beating patterns of fibrotic cardiac cocultures of myocytes and fibroblasts and their in-vitro maturation.
