Birte Thiede studied Physics at Göttingen University and joined the Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization for her master’s thesis project in the Wilczek group where she studied the performance and wake of a model wind turbine in high Reynolds number flow in the Variable Density Wind Tunnel. She received her Master's degree in Physics in October 2021. Birte joined the MCO group as a PhD student in April 2021. In her PhD project she is developing an in-line holographic particle tracking velocimetry instrument for use in the Cloud Kites to investigate cloud droplet dynamics.
