Jose-Agustin Arguedas-Leiva is originally from Costa Rica. He started studying Physics at the bachelor level at the University of Costa Rica. After a one years ERASMUS exchange during his bachelor's at the University of Göttingen he decided to return there to pursue a master's degree in Physics. He did his master's thesis on the topic of turbulent intermittency and scale-dependent Fourier phase phenomena in Michael Wilczek's group at the MPI-DS in Göttingen. Since January 2018 he has been working as a Ph.D. researcher under Michael Wilczek on the topic of complex particles in turbulent fluids. His current research employs numerical and theoretical approaches to study phenomena such as sedimentation, self-motility, and particle geometry and their effect on dispersion properties and collision rates relevant to oceanic microorganisms.
