Active swimming droplets are chemically active droplets that self-propel by a Marangoni-driven flow. We studied how active droplets in two-dimensional confinement can be affected by an electric field. The main results are that the swimming direction can be controlled by a DC electric field, and is in the opposite direction to the electroosmotic flow in the swimming medium, a supra-micellar surfactant solution. Furthermore, the droplets can be trapped within a defined region along a microchannel by tuning an alternating electric field.
